To get a library card, visit the library and bring two forms of identification that show your name and current address. Applicants must provide a valid government-issued photo ID and proof of current address, such as a recent utility bill.

Yes! Non-residents who live outside the Grant Park Public Library district but in Grant Park, IL 60940 may be eligible to purchase a non-resident library card.

The annual fee for a non-resident household card is $50. A non-resident household card allows all members of the household age 5 and older to obtain library cards and access library services. Renewed yearly.

When you get your library card, you'll have access to the library catalog and the Vega website. To access your account, sign in on the Vega website using your library card number. Once you're logged in, go to your account settings and choose the option to opt in to checkout history. After you enable this setting, your account will begin saving a record of items you check out. 

You can check out as many books as you’d like! For DVDs, there is a 2 item maximum.

Interlibrary Loan (ILL) allows patrons to borrow materials from other libraries within our shared library network. As a member of PrairieCat, we can request items from other participating libraries and have them delivered to our library for pickup.

This means you can place requests for books and other materials owned by fellow PrairieCat libraries, including Kankakee Public Library, Bourbonnais Public Library, Manteno Public Library, and many others. Simply search the catalog, place a request on an available item, and we'll notify you when it arrives for pickup.

Most books may be checked out for 2 weeks, while DVDs may be checked out for 1 week.

Books can be renewed up to 3 times, provided no other patron has requested the item. Each renewal extends the due date by an additional 2 weeks. You can renew eligible items through your account or by contacting the library.

To manage your account online, visit the library's catalog through the Vega website. To sign in, enter your library card number (located on the back of your library card) and your PIN, which is the last four digits of your library card number.

Once you log in, you'll be able to view your checked-out items, place and manage holds, renew eligible materials, update account preferences, and access other account features.

Library fees can be paid in person at the library using cash or check. You can also pay fees online through your library account on the Vega website.

To pay online, sign in to your account using your library card number and PIN, then navigate to your account's fees or fines section to view and pay any outstanding balances.

Yes. The library has a public computer available for patron use.

Public computers may be used with a valid library card or photo ID. Guest passes are also available for adult patrons.

Patrons under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign an Internet Computer Registration and User Agreement before using library computers. Children under 11 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times while using public computers.

Please follow all computer use policies and be respectful of other patrons while using library equipment.

Patrons are expected to conduct themselves in a manner respectful of themselves and others. Behaviors that violate this policy may result in intervention by staff members. Such behavior includes but is not limited to altering any computer system hardware or software configurations and inappropriate use of the internet/computer.
